Jimmy Lee Adams

Jimmy Lee Adams of Sparta, GA was born in Marion, IL on 8/20/1966 to John William Adams and Mary Margaret (Robertson) Adams. He was a 1984 graduate of Johnston City High School, and a Journeyman Electrician with Buck Enterprise of Cumming, GA.

When not working, he enjoyed searching for arrowheads, gem mining, hiking, and critter-hunting. If he heard of a bear sighting, he was on the way with a camera. He and Tonya had explored across the US in the past several years, including boating the Okefenokee with the gators, zip-lining, and taking their first skydive together. He proposed to her at Niagara Falls. His love of the outdoors, dangerous critters, gems, adventure, & travel was only surpassed by his love for Tonya. There were to be married soon, but she drew the line on shenanigans a few months ago in Vegas, when he suggested they make it official at Denny's.

He is survived by his beloved fiancé Tonya Calvert, of the home, and her mother, Mrs. Dean Stanley. His father, John Adams (Patty Kendrick), two daughters, Brandi Adams (Denton Silvers) of Ranger GA and MarySue Adams-Cook (Austin) of Ranger, GA. One sister, Barbara Hollis-DeVenanzio (Regis) of Winter Haven, FL, two grandsons, Cason Lane Cook and William Greyson Silvers, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is survived by Tonya's family, including brother, Ricky Calvert, daughter, Jayme Aycock, and grandchildren Jordyn, Tripp, and Trace.

Also surviving is a senior Beagle, Gem, named in his honor many years ago.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Adams, one brother, John Adams, Jr., grandparents, Granville Adams, Audrey Adams, Howard Robertson, & Marybelle Robertson, and very special aunt, Shirley Harris, who was a second mom.

At this time, we know that at least four people will get a second chance because of Jim.

Our hearts are broken, but we wish them Godspeed and good health. They will live because of him, and he will live because of them.

Memorials may be made to the funeral home, and will be given with to the Neuro-ICU staff who cared for Jim with skill and compassion.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday August 19, 2018, in the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Larry Stevens officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City.
