JIMMY MARRS

Pittsburg–Jimmy "Strawberry" Marrs 67, of Pittsburg passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2015 at 9:35 P.M. in the V.A Medical Center in Marion.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday December 28, 2015 at Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Scott Gipson officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Union Grove Cemetery in Pittsburg with Graveside Military Rites conducted by the Marion V.F.W., American Legion, and Army National Guard.

Jimmy was born on October 6, 1948 in Herrin the son of Bert and Sylvania (Estridge) Marrs. He married Sandra (Layne) on December 31, 1976 in Pittsburg. She survives.

He was a retired over the road truck driver working for Shawnee Express. He was a coal miner for 17 years working for Old Ben #26. He was a veteran serving in the Army stationed in Panama. He was an avid fisherman.

He is survived by one son, James G. Marrs and wife Kendra of Marion; one brother, Dave Marrs and wife Glenda of West Frankfort; two nieces, Laura Cabe and Stacy Gardner; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Patricia Williams.
