Joe Littlefair, Jr.

Joe Littlefair Jr. (Joey) passed away on Friday January 2nd at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa with his family by his side.

Joey was born on March 10th, 1958 to Joe Littlefair and Peggy (Duddy) Littlefair. He grew up on Prosperity Road, in the house his father grew up in. He was a 1976 graduate of Johnston City High School. He attended Southern Illinois University. Joey lived in Long Beach California and moved to Iowa in 1994. He retired from a manager position at Dahls Foods in Des Moines in June 2013.

Joey was a kind person. He demonstrated an uncommon grace and dignity in the last 18 months as he battled cancer. He was a lifelong baseball fan, watching every Cardinal game this past season. Joey loved his niece and nephew and was a good friend to all who knew him.

He is survived by his sister Donna, niece Laura and nephew Andrew (Theresa) Genz.

He was preceded in death by mother Peggy, and his brother-in-law Michael. His father, Joe, joined him 2 days after his passing.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 A.M. Saturday, January 10, 2015, at Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Sr. Catherine Wellinghoff officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. on Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, Joey's family asks that you buy a ticket to a St. Louis Cardinals game this summer (make sure it's a hot day!). According to Joey, the only kind of weather for baseball.
