John LeRoy Tippy, 82 of Pinckneyville, IL, died Saturday, June 11, 2016, at 5:31 p.m. at home surrounded by family and his canine companion, Spike. John was born December 13, 1933, in Clifford, IL, to LeRoy and Bertha Marie (Hunsick) Tippy. He is survived by two daughters: Linda Phelps and Glenda Hendley; six grandchildren: Jon James, Gary Followell, Joshua Phelps, Michael Wade, Hally Kissiar and Brent Boles; eleven great-grandchildren: Cooper James; Lainie, Kylie and Conner Followell; Caleb Vogel; Abbigale Mocaby; Mason Rohach; Maisy, Michael Robert and Alexandria Wade and Nick Ticer; and an honorary grandson, Mitchell Morrow. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles Tippy and Robert L. Tippy and daughter, Brenda Boles. John was a retired machinist having previously worked for Olin and the mines. He was a Past Worthy President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 2522 and a proud member of the NRA. John enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved his family dearly and will be greatly missed. It was John's request to be cremated and not have any services. Murman and Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City is in charge of arrangements.
