Karen
Snedden
Feb 21, 1957 — Nov 24, 2024
Well…Karen Jean Snedden couldn't be on this earth without her twin, Kathy, who passed on November 13, 2024, so she passed away, joining Kathy, her mom, Joyce, and her dad, JR, on November 24, 2024. Karen had a developmental disability, and at the end of her life, this rendered her unable to swallow, which lead to her lung collapsing. Her family knew that Karen wanted to be with Kathy, so we chose to make her comfortable in the end. Karen was born on February 21, 1957 in Marion, Illinois. She attended Christopher High School, where she graduated in 1978. Karen participated in the Special Olympics when she was young. Karen was a mess! Everyone who knew her will agree with me on that, but we all loved her just how she was. When Karen would get upset, which would happen often, the best way to make her laugh and forget about whatever was upsetting her was to pretend to fight with her; I don't know why, but that would make her crack up, and she would always say, "oh, we're just playin'", and I would respond, "yep! We're just playin'", and all was well. Karen will be dearly missed by her sisters Marsha, Debbie, Donna, and Mary. She will also be missed by her nieces and nephews, Christine, Kellie, Sarah, Markeya, Samuel, Seth, and Cody. She also had wonderful brothers-in-law in Poley and Steven. She's also leaving behind great-nephews and niece, Gavin, Colton, and Skylar. Karen was greatly loved and will be forever missed. The family will be having a private, double funeral on November 29, 2024. Karen's family will keep the memory of her and Kathy alive with them; they will tell stories, and they will laugh remembering all of the good times they got to share with the twins. Thank you to Hospice of Southern Illinois and Memorial Hospital of Carbondale for making her last days as comfortable as possible.
