Johnston City-Karen F. West 74 passed away of 7:00 P.M. on Thursday June 4, 2026 at Stonebridge Nursing and Rehab in Benton.

A graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday June 12, 2026 at the Whiteash Cemetery in Whiteash. Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City is in charge of services.
Karen was born on November 16, 1951 in Herrin the daughter of Leo and Lillie (Mills) Sloan. She was married to Harvey West who preceded her in death.

She is survived by her son, Michael Smith of Herrin; grandchildren, Addy, Conner, Jagger, Jaxson, and Kayla; many grandchildren; 22 nieces and nephews; a caregiver, Gay Bennett; a brother-in-law Mike Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bob Sloan and wife Frances, Bill Sloan and wife Claudine, Alan " Hoot" Sloan, Leonard Sloan and wife Judy; sisters, Doris Baker and husband "J.T., Alma Fisher and husband Art, Evelyn Smith.
The family would like to thank Residential Hospice, Shanda, Chillie, her favorite daughter-in-law, Stacey Obright, and her dog, Manny.
