KATHERINE ZASADA
Johnston City–Katherine "Beb" Zasada 87, of Johnston City, passed away on November 7, 2009 at 3:30 A.M. surrounded by her loving family.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday November 9, 2009, at the St. Paul's Catholic Church in Johnston City with Msgr. Ken Schaefer officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Monday at the Church. Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to TIP Hospice or to St. Paul's Catholic Church of Johnston City. Envelopes will be available at the church.
Katherine was born on February 12, 1922 in Johnston City, the daughter of Vinko and Frances (Delach) Polich. She married Stephan "Chink" Zasada on September 16, 1939 in Piggott, AR. He preceded her in death on April 26, 1993.
Katherine was a member of the St. Paul's Catholic Church. She was an enthusiastic bingo player and was famous for her handmade afghans and homemade nut roll. Katherine was an avid bird watcher. She also enjoyed spending time with her childhood friends Janet Engram and the ladies from 9th street. Katherine was a care giver to many family members over the past years.
She is survived by one daughter, Janice Gaddis and husband Donnie; three granddaughters, Jamie Summers and husband Lenzie of Marion, Tricia Wall and Stu Mackenzie of Bloomington, IN, and Katie Gaddis of Johnston City; one grandson, Donnie Gaddis of Johnston City; one great grandson, Ronan Stephan Summers of Marion; special care givers her nephew and niece, Larry and June Bishop and numerous nieces and nephews. Katherine was also looking forward to the arrival of her namesake baby Eleeott Katherine Summers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Sharon Wall; a sister, Mildred Bishop; and brothers, John and Tom Polich.
