KENNETH KALK "RED" ATKINSON JR.
Whiteash-Kenneth Kalk "Red" Atkinson, 68, of Whiteash, passed away at 4:05 P.M. Sunday December 1, 2013 at his home.
Kenneth was born on February 11, 1945 in Kansas City, MO the son of Kenneth Atkinson Sr. and Katie (Smith) Atkinson. He was married in 1965 to Shirley Whitescarver in Joliet. They had two children, Randall and Christine Atkinson.

Red took an interest into painting and auto body work in his teen years. He turned his desire to work on cars into his love and passion and became a professional custom auto body and painter until he lost his vision to glaucoma.

He had unbelievable artistic talents that he openly displayed all throughout his years painting cars, motorcycles, trucks, vans, and anything else he put his hands on.

Reds second love was riding his Harley and also enjoyed drag racing, gardening, and fishing; and his desire for wild life, especially his parrot "Cracker".

He is survived by his children, Randall Atkinson and Christine Brown of Marion; granddaughters, Rhiannon Severs, Lindsay and Lacey Culbreth; a great grandson, Hunter Randall Mezo; Brothers, Tom Atkinson and wife Jena,, Terrance "Mike" Collins; sisters, Earline Carter, Bobbi Mann; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

According to Red's wishes he will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City is in charge of arrangements.

Red will be deeply missed by all his family and friends, especially Randy and Cookie.
