JAMES KEVIN BRASHEARS

Johnston City–James Kevin Brashears 56 years old, passed away approximately 3:20 a.m. on December 21, 2014 at St John's Hospice. Kevin was born at Silvercross Hospital in Chicago Illinois, August 31, 1956. He was born to Helen Runnels Brashear, and James Donald Brashear. After his Mother's passing in 1985, Kevin lived with his Father Don in Johnston City, Illinois. After his Father's passing Kevin went to live with his Aunt and Uncle Al and Virginia Penman in Sherman, Illinois. He lived in Sherman for 18 years and moved to Brother James Court for almost 2 years, a facility for Downs Syndrome adults. Kevin loved his family, his artwork, the Chicago Cubs, and his friends at Brother James. He also believed in the magic of the holidays, especially Christmas. Kevin was kind and loving and never knew a stranger. Everyone that knew him loved him. He was extremely close to his Cousin Cheryl Penman and her children Travis and Jenna who he grew up with. Kevin is survived by his Aunt Virginia Penman, his Cousin Cheryl Penman and her children Travis and Jenna Penman. He is also survived by his Brother Keith Brashear of Merritt Island, FL and cousins Delana and Brent Winchester of Marion, Illinois. Joyce, Mondo, and Randy Re of Cincinnati, Ohio and his aunt Nancy Wallace of Johnston City, IL. Kevin will be truly missed.

Kevin was buried next to his parents in Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City.
