LARRY "BO" SKILES

Johnston City-Larry "Bo" Skiles 79 passed away at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday September 25, 2024 at home from Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.

Services will be held at 12:00 noon Monday September 30, 2024 at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Kevin McNeely officiating. Burial will be in the Lindsey Cemetery in McClure. Graveside military rites will be conducted by area vets. and the U.S. Army Burial Detail Team Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon Monday at the funeral home.

Bo was born on July 17, 1945 in Cape Girardeau the son of Everett and Hazel (Smith) Skiles. He was married to Christina (Ticer) for 26 years. She survives.

He was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the 100 1st Airborne Combat. He was a devoted union 318 member for over fifty years. He was a heavy equipment operator. He loved fishing, and spending time with his four-legged kids Oscar and Dolly. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Bo is survived by grandchildren, Bailey Needham and husband Glen, Ethan Holmes and wife Sara, Evan Holmes, Megan Holmes significant other Christian Hart; great grandchildren, Meiah and Cloe Needham; nieces, Marilyn Hollis and husband Buddy, Kami Welch and husband Darrel, Lana Rustenberg and husband Tony, Karen Hooker; nephew, Steve Skiles and wife Deanna; sisters-in-law, Jeanie Hill and husband Bill; long time friends, Dick Hawk, Mike Ricketts, Larry Surgalski, and Larry Wells; cousin, Burnell Smith and wife Judy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; children, Chuck Holmes and Brian Holmes; and brother, Jimmie Skiles.

Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis is a very hard illness. I'd like to thank my sister Jeanie Hill and niece Marilyn Hollis for giving their time at Bo's last week. He was very much surrounded by family and his three favorite people. Thanks to all who loved and help care for him through this disease.
