Lee Ann
Black
Jan 9, 1964 — Mar 18, 2026
Lee Ann Black, age 62, of Marion, Illinois, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 18th at 6:35am. Lee Ann was born on January 9, 1964, in Marion, Illinois, to Juanita (Goodwin) Wilkins and Harold Lee Wilkins.
Lee Ann loved life, and above all, she loved Jesus. Though she spent many years battling health issues and fighting her body, she remained steadfast and strong in her faith through it all. Her resilience and trust in the Lord were an inspiration to those around her.
One of Lee Ann's greatest joys was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her family was her heart. She cherished being in the sunshine, loved the beach, and found peace and creativity in writing poems and short stories. She had a beautiful sense of humor and a contagious laugh that could light up any room. Lee Ann touched many lives with her faith, kindness, and wit.
She is survived by her daughter, Faith Leann Dubree (Josh) of Carbondale; her son, Jacob Deon Thompson of Marion; her sister, Sherry LaBotte (Ed) of Marion; her brother, John Thomas (Cindy) of Goreville; and her beloved grandchildren, Drake Dubree, Khloe Thompson, and Zane Thompson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Marlena Kay Shepard and Kathy Jo Clarida; and her nephew, Mark A. Baier.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date for her family and close friends.
Lee Ann will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her family finds comfort in knowing she is at peace in the presence of her Savior.
