LEON DASCOTTE
Johnston City-Leon Dascotte 72, of Johnston City passed away at 9:26 P.M. on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at the Kindred Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 21, 2014, at Whiteash Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Andy Lee officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Sunday at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City and from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Monday at the church.
Memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the church and funeral home.
Leon was born on January 21, 1942 in Johnston City the son of Emo and Katherine (Stritzel) Dascotte. He married Rosemary (Welch) on April 20, 1963 in Herrin. She survives.
Leon was a carpenter for 50 years and was a member of the Carpenter's Local. He loved to hunt and fish. He attended the Whiteash Freewill Baptist Church.
He is survived by two sons, Kevin Dascotte and wife Jeanie of O'Fallon, MO, and Darin Dascotte and wife Jill of Pinckneyville; five grandchildren, Tyler Dascotte of Clearwater, FL, Jessica Dascotte of Belleville, Andrew Dascotte of Bellville, Hannah Dascotte of Pinckneyville, and Abbigail Dascotte of Pinckneyville; seven great grandchildren, Jaxon, Skyler, Samuel, Matthew, Malli, Giovanni, and Ryan; two sisters, Mary Davis of Johnston City and Diane Mason and husband Larry of Olney; a sister-in-law, Flo Dascotte of Johnston City; a brother-in-law, Bill Cosgrove of Murphysboro; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Lucille Cosgrove; and two brothers, Denny Dascotte and Arnold Dascotte.
