LEON RANDAL "TOBY" MANIER

Johnston City–Leon Randal "Toby" Manier 79, of Johnston City passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at 2:35 P.M. at his family home surrounded by his family.

Services will be held at the First Christian Church in Johnston City on Saturday November 27, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Wendell Roberts, Pastor Jim Walizer and Pastor Lee Petty officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City with military rites conducted by the Marion V.F.W., American Legion and Illinois Army National Guard. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday November 26, 2010 at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City and from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Johnston City Building Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and at the church.

Leon was born on November 19, 1931 in Saline County the son of Randal and Mary Elsie (Absher) Manier. He married Shirley Ann (Cobb) on October 22, 1955 in Marion. She survives.

He was a truck driver for Bowman Oil in Marion for 29 years; he later owned and operated at L&S Upholstery in Johnston City for 23 years. He was a member of the First Christian Church for 50 years, a custodian for 21 years and served as a deacon. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict proudly serving in the army as an MP in Seoul, Korea from 1952 to 1954. He was a life time member of the Marion V.F.W.

He is survived by his wife of Johnston City; his children, James Leon Manier of Grantsburg, Brenda Kay Thebeau and husband Tim of Texico, and Steven Lee Manier and wife Tammy of Johnston City; 4 grandchildren, James Randall Turner, Jamie Nicole Manier, Joshua Allan Thebeau, and Lindsey Kay Thebeau; 2 sisters, Genieve Orr Munsell of Johnston City, and Opal Mandrell Atwood of Marion; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 sister, Golda Merrell Moore; and 4 brothers, James, Claude, Clyde, and Lloyd "Coon" Manier.
