LINDA L. LEITZEN

Johnston City-Linda L. Leitzen, 64, passed away on Sunday March 10, 2013 at 1:00 A.M. in her home. She was a beloved and baptized member of the First Christian Church of Johnston City.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday March 14, 2013 at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Lee Petty officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery of Johnston City. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials may be made to either Hospice of Southern Illinois or to The First Christian Church of Johnston City. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Linda was born on October 4, 1948 at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, the daughter of Francis and Ethel (Winslow) Borror.

On November 24, 1972, Linda was united in marriage with Ronald Galen Leitzen of Watseka at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Herrin. They shared together 37 years of a loving marriage in Johnston City. Ronald passed away in 2009.

Linda was a Spanish teacher at Harrisburg High School, retiring in 2008. An avid reader, Linda had a sharp mind and an even sharper wit. She enjoyed her Sudoku puzzles, watching "The Deadliest Catch" and baking cookies with her grandson Marcus. With a big heart, she was fiercely loyal to her family and friends, and always willing to take in a stray animal. The oldest of three sisters, Linda kept close to her family and was a proud, devoted and loving grandma to Marcus Leitzen of Johnston City and Kailey and Madison Butler of Lamar, AR.

In addition to her grandchildren, Linda is survived by her son, Matthew J. Leitzen and wife Megan of Johnston City; two sisters, Annie Murphy and husband Brian of Van Buran, MO, and Kay Denfip and husband John of Dayton, TX. She will also be greatly missed by her nieces and nephews, her two brothers-in-law, her aunts and uncles, countless cousins, her many good friends, and all of her loving pets.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
