LOWELL DRYDEN

Johnston City-Lowell Dryden 80, of Johnston City passed away at 8:21 A.M. on Sunday May 29, 2011 in Herrin.

There will be private services. Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City is in charge of arrangements.

Lowell was born on January 2, 1931 in Hurst the son of Ace and Lavonia (Elliott) Dryden. He married Doris (Durham) of Johnston City on February 27, 1952, who preceded him in death on July 24, 1984.

Lowell retired after 32 years as a rail road engineer at Burlington Northern. He formerly owned the A & W Restaurant in Johnston City. He was the owner of three loan companies in Southern Illinois. He honorably served in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by one son, Darol Dryden and wife Marianne of Creal Springs; one daughter, Kim Baker and husband Ed of Marked Tree, Arkansas; grandchildren, Kasey Dryden Karamichos, Joleen Dryden, Jessi Dryden, Deedee Dryden, Justin Baker, Shaunda Baker, Clayton Baker, and Landon Baker; great grandchildren, Austen Norris, Kenzie Norris, and Cori Norris.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a great granddaughter, Kelc Norris; and a brother, Paul Dryden.
