MABLE "MARIE" HAYES

Stiritz– Marie Hayes, 85, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at 11:30 A.M. Sunday, August 28, 2016 at ARCH in Energy.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday September 1, 2016 at Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Steve Hudspeth officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Energy.

Marie was born at home in Johnston City on September 22, 1930 the firstborn child of Herbert and Fannie (Brewer) McClain. She married Clarence L. "C.L." Hayes Jr. of Stiritz on December 24, 1948.

She is survived by husband C. L. and children, Randy Alan (Donna) Hayes of Polo, IL and twins, Cathy Lynn (Lee) Harms of Lenzburg, IL (Darmstadt) and Curtis Lee (Mabel) Hayes of rural Marion, IL (Pittsburg); five grandchildren Colin (Heather) Hayes of Aurora, IL, Toby Harms (Juli) of St. Jacob, IL, Magan Harms of Belleville, IL, Jerod Kurt (Amanda) Hayes of Johnston City, IL and Jeremy (Kathleen) Hayes, of Bloomington, IL; nine great-grandchildren, Camryn Hayes of Aurora, IL, Pacey, Piper and Winston Harms of St. Jacob, IL, Ezekiel "Zeke" and Rachel Hayes of Johnston City, IL, and Owen, Mitchell and Natalie Jean Hayes of Bloomington, IL., a niece, numerous nephews, many friends at her church and her "Pool Pals" from the West Frankfort Aquatic Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Maxine Bondi Meyer and Bette Sanders and one brother, Herbert J. McClain. Marie was a retired bookkeeper in the lumber trade having worked for Stotlar-Herrin Lumber in Johnston City, IL and having retired from Kaeser Lumber in Marion, IL. Marie was a 67-year member of the Stiritz United Methodist Church, located in the village of Stiritz between Johnston City and West Frankfort, where she had been an active member over the years as Sunday school teacher, song leader and long-time treasurer until just recently when she was diagnosed with T cell lymphoma. Marie was a two time survivor of cancer. The family extends a much appreciated and heart-felt "Thank You" to the staff of ARCH at Helia, Energy, IL for the great care and compassion they extended to Marie and her family in the last days and hours of her life here on earth. We will weep no more for her pain and suffering but rejoice in her homecoming with Jesus!
