MARIE KATHERINE SINGER

Johnston City-Marie Katherine Singer, 93 of Stiritz, passed away at 4:20 A.M. Monday March 18, 2013 in Herrin Hospital with her daughter, Carol by her side.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday March 21, 2013 at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Rev. Ted A. Hartley officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 1:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.

Marie was born on September 18, 1919 in Forest Park the daughter of George Henry and Mary Frances (Weikal) Bergman. She married William Henry Singer on June 29th, 1940 in Cook County. Bill preceded her in death on November 4, 1982.

Marie was a volunteer for the State's Attorneys Office in Marion and delivered meals on wheels for many years. She was a member of the Stiritz Methodist Church.

She is survived by four daughters, Carol Perkins and husband Charles of Johnston City, Connie Capps and husband Dan of Centralia, Billie Brown and husband Gene of Springfield, and Diane Stocks and husband Bob of Fort Myers, FL; ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, one brother, Gordon Bergman of Cape Coral, FL; one-brother-in-law, Harry Singer and wife Gladys of Stiritz; and one sister-in-law, Oma Singer of Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her daughter, Gayle Marie; one granddaughter; two sisters; and three brothers.
