Obituary

Marsha Lee Jones 5/6/1944-9/10/2026

Marsha Lee Jones, 82, of Johnston City died unexpectedly with family surrounding her at Barnes Hospital on September 10, 2026.

She was born in Chicago, in 1944 to her parents Troy and Geneive Payne. They moved to Johnston City where her parents ran a taxi cab service. Later her father transitioned into the coal mining industry until he retired. Marsha had one sibling, Beverly Gaddis, who preceded her in death.

Marsha was married to Leo E. Jones on October 27, 1962. He preceded her in death. Leo met her at the Williamson County Fair and knew she was the love of his life. They were two peas in a pod, always together in everything they did. They enjoyed their time together camping at the lake and with countless walks together hand in hand. She was his world as he was hers.

Marsha was blessed with three children. A son; Richard (Cheryl) Jones, two daughters; Marlena (Scott) Wright and Lisa (Greg) Moore, nine grandkids; Aaron (Natalie) Jones, Adam (Emmalee) Jones, Bryce, Brandon, Meranda, Christopher, Alex Wright, Dylan (Brittany) Moore, and Abigail (Craig) Barter, six great grandchildren; Braxton, Adeline and Brady Jones, Silas Wright, Elijah Paul Moore, and Scarlett Lee Barter.

Marsha was so loved by her family. She enjoyed attending sporting events for grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was always active in outdoor work and decorating for the holidays. Marsha was the sweetest kindest most helpful person. The family was blessed to have her in their lives for a wonderful 82 years. She worked for the Johnston City School district, serving up student meals for over 35 years. She loved her occupation and loved the students even more. Student smiles, compliments, and hugs were some of her cherished moments at work. The school was like her second family that she loved.

Services will be held on Tuesday September 15, 2026, at 1:00 P.M. at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Randy Carney officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Burial will follow at Becker Cemetery.
