MARY ELLEN GRANT

Marion–Mary Ellen Grant, 76 of Marion passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2010 at 5:00 P.M. at her family home.

Services will be held at Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City on Thursday March 18, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Larry Stevens officiating. Burial will be in the Lake Creek Cemetery southeast of Johnston City. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Mary was born on December 9, 1933 in Williamson County, the daughter of Clarence and Lillian (Davis) Richard. She married Ulysses S. "Bud" Grant Jr. on January 17, 1953 in Piggott, Ark. He preceded her in death on December 16, 2005.

Mary was a homemaker and worked at Allen's in Herrin for 25 years. She was a member of the Lake Creek Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Ronald Grant and wife Karla of Marion, and James Grant and wife Chris of Marion; one daughter, Karen Morse and husband Cannon of Lexington Park, MD; six grandchildren, Mary Beth Davie and husband Kevin, Rachel Lynn Grant, Lindsay Grant, Natalie Grant, Stenson Morse, and Hannah Morse; three great grandchildren. Gracie Grant-West, Max Marz-Davie, and Kylie Davie; two brothers, Wayne Richard and wife June of Mt. Vernon, and Clarence Richard and wife Diane of Toledo, OH; four sisters, Eva Roberts of West Frankfort, Alice Richard of Johnston City, Roberta Jennings and husband Ralph of Johnston City, and Yvonne Kirk and husband Dennis of Johnston City; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Harry Richard, Jack Richard, Carl Richard and Henry Lon Richard; and one sister Brenda Richard.
