MATTHEW SMITH

Johnston City-Matthew Smith, 45, passed away at 12:15 P.M. on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at home.

Services will be held at 5:00 P.M. Saturday June 15, 2019 at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Michael Tetmeyer officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.

Matthew was born on January 20, 1974 in Pekin the son of Delmar Smith. He married Sarah Carter on February 22, 2014 in Las Vegas, NV. They have been together 16 years. She survives.

Matthew worked at E.T. Simonds, and he was a member of the Laborer's International Union of North America Local Union 773. He was a former foreman at Alltrack, and a former foreman at Railworks Track Services. He was a member of the Buccaneer's club of Johnston City. He loved to ride motorcycles and was a good cook.

He is survived by his father and mother, Iris Jean of Johnston City; three sons, Nicholas Matthew Smith, Skyler Matthew Carter, and Brently Del Smith; two sisters, Kimberly Smith and Stacy Smith; three step-sisters, Brandy Belcher, Teresa Whitecotten, and Gina Goetz; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Brent Alan Smith.
