MELBA E. OWENS
Carrier Mills–Melba E. Owens 77, of Carrier Mills passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 3:00 A.M. at the Harrisburg Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held at Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Furney Revels officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon till 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Church of God of Prophecy of Johnston City. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Melba was born on August 14, 1932, in Johnston City, the daughter of Albert Newton and Edna Mae (Hardin) Owens.
Melba owned and operated the A & W Restaurant later known as Mel's Dinner in Johnston City for many years. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy of Johnston City.
She is survived by five children, Donetta Clayton of Carrier Mills, Dennis Dodd of Johnston City, Lisa Zappa of Johnston City, Renee Anthony and husband Rob of St. Louis, MO, and Eric Billingsley and wife Rebecca of Johnston City; grandchildren, Melissa Miller and husband Andy of Lick Creek, Julia Jordan and husband Ronald of Herrin, Derek Dodd and wife Kristy of Fort Campbell, KY, Kristi Almaroad of Lick Creek, Cody Zappa of Johnston City, Brandon Ellet of St. Louis, MO, Deidre Dare of Johnston City, Jerry Dare of Johnston City, Taylor Dover, Austin Dover of Johnston City; great grandchildren, Sierra Miller, Alivia Miller, Miranda Miller all of Lick Creek, Abigail Jordon of Herrin, Tadan Dodd of Fort Campbell, KY, Erin Almaroad of Lick Creek; brother, Kenneth Owens and wife Marie of Indiana; sister, Glenda Null and husband Jim of Benton; brother, Jerry Owens and wife Sharon of Ohio; a sister-in-law, Sue Owens of Montana; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Edna Owens; one brother, Albert Owens Jr.; one infant sister, Donna Kay Owens.
