MILDRED MITCHELL CARDWELL

Corinth–Mildred Mitchell Cardwell 96, of Corinth passed away on Monday, February 8, 2010 at 9:05 P.M. at Parkway Manor in Marion.

Services will be held at Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City on Friday February 12, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Roger Moore officiating. Burial will be in the Corinth Cemetery east of Johnston City. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. till 1:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Corinth Cemetery. Envelopes will be available at the funeral Home.

Mildred was born on December 23, 1913, in Droit City, the daughter of John Flint and Elsie Dela (Mitchell) Roberts. She married Milo E. Cardwell on August 17, 1931. He preceded her in death on September 23, 1976.

She was a manager of the Droit Store. She and her husband owned and operated Corinth Grocery Store and were farmers. She was a mail carrier at the Ordnance Plan at Crab Orchard with the U.S Government during WWII. Mildred was a member of the PTA of Johnston City. She was a member of the Corinth Christian Fellowship Church. She was a Democratic Chair Woman for Williamson County. She was a special assistant to Irma Igo, who was State Democratic Chair Woman. Mildred was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star of Herrin. She retired from the Department of Public Aid working as a special case worker.

She is survived by Carol Crabtree and husband Troy of Corinth; four grandchildren, Robin Lynne Williams, Melody Ann Dawes and husband Randy, Cathy Jo Fox and husband Doug, and John Kee and wife Lisa; 17 great grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren; and a nephew, Earl Baldwin and wife Nelda.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one daughter, Yolonda Kee and husband Bill; one grandson, Mikel Crabtree; one sister, Katherine Baldwin and husband Roland; and one niece, Beverly Ann Baldwin.
