NANCY ELLEN WILLIAMS
Marion-Nancy Ellen Williams, age 79, of Marion passed away Sunday, June 4th, 2023, at the VA Community Living Center in Marion while surrounded by family.
Nancy was born on March 24,1944 in Natrona, PA, to Benjamin and Ethel (Smith) Stivenson. She was the youngest of five children and had three brothers and one sister.
After graduating from Freeport High School in Pennsylvania in 1962, Nancy enlisted in the Women's Air Force in 1963. After serving as a CNA in the Air Force where she met and married her first husband, Joe and became a homemaker raising their three children. She worked at Shawnee Library System in Carterville for several years before moving on to, and later retiring from, the USDA Rural Development agency after many years of dedicated service.
Nancy was an active member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church for many years. She was a social butterfly and had the ability to talk to anyone about anything. Nancy loved to craft, sew and cook. She had many hobbies such as cross stitching, quilting, crocheting, and many more. In addition to her crafts, she also loved gardening and eating Mexican food.
Above all, she loved her family and was a tireless supporter of them. Nancy had a generous spirit and spent many of her retirement years helping to raise her grandchildren, who will all miss her dearly.
She is survived by her three children - Michael Tyrone Williams, Marcy Hammonds, and Matt Williams; ten grandchildren - Timothy Wiliams, Kiffany Williams, Matthew Williams Jr, Shaynee Hammonds, Austin Williams, Noah Williams, Rylee Hammonds, Isaiah Williams, Quentin Hammonds, and Harrison Williams; five great-grandchildren - Alexzavior Williams, Xzadin Williams, Xzavia Cassuto, Xzadrian Cassuto, and Liam Williams; siblings Vanetta Leighlightner, Jimmy Stivenson, and Bob Stivenson; beloved pets - Lily and Joni.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parent;, her brother, Kenneth Stivenson; her first husband, Joe Williams; a sister-in-law, Peggy Luise Williams; her great-grandson, Malachi; and many beloved pets.
Services will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday June 10, 2023, in the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor John Howat officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City with graveside military honors conducted by the Marion V.F.W., American Legion, and the United States Air Force Burial Honors Team. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon Saturday at the funeral home.
