NELLIE L. CONLEY

Marion-Nellie Leslie Conley 95, of rural Marion, passed away at 3:59 A.M. on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at her home with her daughter and a close friend, Sheila Burns at her side.

She was born January 24, 1919 in Pittsburg to John Robert and Cora Ironside White.

She was preceded in death by her parents when she was very young; one brother, Gene Vernon, who died as a child; and by an aunt and uncle who raised her as their own, Ferdon and Leona O'Neal.

She worked at Fountain Nursing Home as a cook for 24 years.

Nellie was always very active and was even able to chop and split firewood up until Thanksgiving.

She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie and family; and by several grand cats; one grand dog; and by close friends; Sheila Burns, Patsy Burns, Mardell Emery, Evangulia Gordon, Mike Gordon, the Buttrum Family, Lee and Linda Rawson, Richard and Connie Hays; and several cousins.

Bonnie says that "I loved and treasured my Mama more than words can express and the bond between us was so very strong. I still feel that bond and always will along with the deep abiding love I will always have for her. She was the best mother a daughter could have!"

There will be no services. Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City is in charge of arrangements.
