Norman Eugene Rogers Sr., 82, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
Norman was born on January 9, 1941, the son of Garland Fred Rogers and Geneva Mildred Rogers. He married Cora Mae Smiley on February 2, 1965. Norman and Cora shared many wonderful years together until her passing on August 5, 2000. Norman married Donna Webb on February 28, 2009, and she survives.
He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Norman and Cora were blessed with four children, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He cherished his family; they were his true pride and joy. We will miss him deeply and hold him in our hearts with love.
Norman loved his Lord and Savior; he was a member of the Pittsburg Freewill Baptist Church. He proudly served in the Illinois National Guard. He was an extremely talented carpenter by trade. An outdoorsman at heart, hunting and gardening were his favorite hobbies. He was a car enthusiast and loved to go on road trips in his Corvette. He and Donna enjoyed traveling and took many memorable vacations together over the years.
Norman is survived by his wife, Donna; children, Tammy (Jeff) Robinson, Norman (Cesilee) Rogers, Patti Rogers (Carl Threlkeld), Dianne Cavender (Tyson Hill); grandchildren, Lindsey (John) Davis, Shannon (Daron) Williams, Tyler Cavender, Maegan Rogers, Carlee Rogers; great grandchildren, Drake Davis, Sutton Williams; a sister, Diane Ozment; stepchildren, step-grandchildren, step great-grandchildren; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Garland Fred Rogers and Geneva Mildred Rogers; wife, Cora Rogers; brother, Roy Rogers.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City. A private service for the family will be held at a later date.
