Obituary

Patricia “Pat” McClellan, 94, of Johnston City passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at Parkway Manor in Marion.

Pat was born on February 10, 1932 to Walter and Lena (Smith) Austin. At the age of three with love of grandparent’s Harvey and Bammie Smith, she was given the life of a farm girl. Pat attended Stiritz School and then went on to Johnston City High School. On November 27, 1948 she married her high school sweetheart Oscar McClellan. He passed way on July 11, 1981. She loved the large McClellan family she married into and was the remaining aunt to 14 first cousins in that family. Pat was a member of Lake Creek Baptist Church, where she was baptized in a local pond and sang in a trio during the services.

Pat is survived by her children, Danny (Diane) McClellan, Debbie Chapman, and Oscar (Karmelle) McClellan; her grandchildren, Angela (Anne) Robinson, John Robinson (Lindsay), Bethany Chapman, Ashley (Cody) Gardner, Brooke (Nathan), Wachtel, and Brad McClellan; great-grandchildren, Madalyn Robinson, Wyatt Robinson, Grayson Gardner, Solomon Gardner, Lucy Gardner, Lauren Wachtel, Avery Wachtel, and Broderick Wachtel. Pat is also survived by a dear friend, Nancy Woolard.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Lena Austin, her grandparents, Harvey and Bammie Smith, and brothers, Robert Austin, and William Austin.

Pat enjoyed being around people and was a sweet, caring person who loved to find ways to help others. Even during the last several months, she would mention seeing others around her who needed help and would ask workers if she could help them. Pat loved her family so much and enjoyed taking care of her flowers and yard.

The next time a sunrise steals your breath or a meadow of flowers leaves you speechless, remain that way, say nothing and listen as heaven whispers – “Do you like it” “I did it just for you”

Sending love to my children, grandchildren, family and friends. I’ll be quite near just call me softly and I will hear.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 22, 2026 at Lakeview Cemetery at 3:00 P.M. with Pastor T. J. Gentry officiating. A Celebration of Life dinner at Andresen’s will follow.
