PATRICIA ELLEN VAWSER
Johnston City-Patricia Ellen Vawser, 59, passed away after a short illness at 8:00 P.M. on Monday, June 20, 2016 in the Herrin Hospital.

Patricia Ellen Vawser was born August 11, 1956 in Hebron, Nebraska. She was the oldest daughter of Frank and Norma (Eilts) Pohlmann. She was raised on a farm and graduated from Hebron High School in 1974. She continued her education, eventually getting her bachelor's degree in social work from Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska. In 1977 she married Daniel Vawser and together they had three children - Katie, Lowell and Melody. Patricia spent many years educating her own and others' children, including as a teacher at Liberation Home School Co-op. For the past several years she has been helping children in the Teens Making a Difference after school program in Herrin, Illinois. Throughout her life she was very involved in church activities. Her relationship with Jesus Christ was central to her life. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son Lowell. She is survived in life by her husband Daniel, her daughter Melody, and daughter Katie, along with her husband Bobby Smith. Patricia had one grandson, Gideon, whom she loved dearly. Also surviving her are her sisters, Janette and William Warnke of Fairbury, Nebraska and Kristine and Gordon Sherman of Shenandoah, Iowa and their families. Patricia loved deeply and will be missed greatly.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday June 25, 2016 at the Christian Life Church, 1901 North Park Ave. Herrin. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M Friday at the church.
