PAUL "TOM" THOMAS AUSTIN

Marion–Paul "Tom" Thomas Austin 79 passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at 6:53 A.M. at home.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday May 6, 2023 at Honker Hill, 4861 Spillway Road, Carbondale from 12:30 P.M. till 7:00 P.M. Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City is in charge of arrangements.

Tom was born on September 9, 1943 in Effingham the son of Robert and Evelyn (Corder) Austin. He married Regina (Dillingham) on August 18, 1996 in Key West, FL. She survives.

Tom retired as an attorney, was an alumni of SIU, studied law at Memphis State University and was very active in the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. He was in the Army Reserves. He was a member of the American Legion of Marion. He always enjoyed being involved in his children's sporting events. He was a fixture on the pool deck cheering for the Marion Marlins Swim Team. He coached his son's basketball and flag football teams. He loved to travel, being outside, on his boat, and spending time on the ocean. He was probably best known for being REAL GOOD and maybe a Coors Light or two.

He is survived by one daughter, Allison Austin of Fort Myers, FL.; one son, Thomas Ryan Austin and wife Alicia of Cape Coral, FL; two grandchildren, Miah and Eva Austin; two step-sons, Kenny and Cory Richard; nine step-grandchildren; and one great grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
