PHYLLIS OWENS
Johnston City-Phyllis Owens, 76 passed away at 1:00 A.M. Tuesday October 4, 2016 at the St. Joseph's Medical Center in Bloomington.
Services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Saturday October 8, 2016, at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Jon Cassell officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. Saturday at funeral home.
Phyllis was born on November 1, 1939 in Carbondale, the daughter of Lawrence and Lena (Hicks) Rushing. She married Bobby Dean Owens on March 22, 1958. He preceded her in death on March 16, 1987.
Phyllis was a retired CNA.
She is survived by sons, Gregory Scott Owens and wife Jeanie of Joliet, Tim Owens and wife Cindy of Minonk, Steven Owens of Toluca, Jonathan Owens of Toluca; daughters, Elizabeth Herman and husband Richard of Wenona, Lorita Cassell and husband Jon of Freeport; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mary Kay Ellis and Louise McClafferty; and one brother, Harley Rushing.
