PHYLLIS JOAN SOUTH

Johnston City-Phyllis Joan South, 77 of Johnston City passed away at 6:50 A.M. Wednesday May 1, 2013 at her family home.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday May 3, 2013 at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Ted A. Hartley officiating. Burial will be in the Kitty Sweeten Cemetery of Enfield. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.

She was born on March 21, 1936 in Springerton the daughter of Carl and Emma (Hood) Foley.

She worked as a housekeeper at the Herrin Hospital for 25 years, retiring in 2000. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Johnston City. She loved watching the St. Louis Cardinals, camping, and watching western movies.

She is survived by 5 children, Terry South of Johnston City, Randy South and wife Sheila of Johnston City, Becky South of Herrin, Tracy South and friend Cheryll Macks of Johnston City, and Debbie South of Johnston City; 11 grandchildren, Shown South, Chris South, Bryan Elders and wife Amy, Brandon Elders and wife Joan, Jillian Davis and husband Scott, Bret South, Ryely South, Blake South, Brandon Partee, Jared Partee, and Dustin Grizzell; 13 great grandchildren; a brother, Carl Eugene Foley and wife Ellie of Chandler, IN; a sister, Sondra Taylor and husband Charles of Johnston City; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
