ROBERT W. "BOB" HOWELL

Johnston City–Robert W. "Bob" Howell 89, of Johnston City, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at 2:31 P.M. at the V.A. Medical Center in Marion with his children at his side as he peacefully crossed over.

Bob was born on September 28, 1925 in Williamson County the son of John and Louise (Rushing) Howell. He was married on August 29, 1980 to Marjorie Brymer in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin.

Bob was very active as a charter member of the Harvest Time Worship Center of Herrin, having been on the Board of Elders for six years .His favorite pastime was fishing, boating, and listening to southern gospel music. He answered the call of his country into WWII, having served in the U.S. Navy aboard ship in the South Pacific. He was a life time member of the American Legion of Herrin and the V.F.W. of Marion and the Eagles of Herrin.

He is survived by his son, Robert Van Howell and wife Denise of Johnston City; son, Gregory M. Howell of Johnston City; step-son, Larry Brymer and wife Marjorie of Anna; step-daughter, Marsha McNeill and husband Gary of Huntsville, AL; step-daughter, Sandra DeBord of Selma, IN; 9 grandchildren, Ryan Howell and wife Tara of Energy, Bobby Joel Howell of Herrin, Lara Eberly and husband Shaun of Carbondale, Daphne Estrella and husband Charles of Johnston City, John A. LaPradd and wife Annette of Yorktown, IN, Lorie A. Craycraft and husband Steve of Selma, IN, Michael McNeill and wife Nicole of Chelsea, AL, Jeff McNeill of Huntsville, Al, and Andrea Dummond and husband Dave of Huntsville, Al; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; one brother, Jack Howell and wife Mae of St. Charles, MO; many nieces and nephews; and a very dear longtime family friend, Rosemary Reed.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Howell; 17 year old daughter Diane Howell; his parents; one brother, Paul Howell and his wife Mary; and his first wife, Doris Howell.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday February 12, 2011, at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Todd Hawk officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City with graveside military rites conducted by the Herrin American and V.F.W., Freeman Spur American Legion, and Illinois Navy National Guard. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
