ROBERT ARDELL CARROLL

Johnston City-Robert Ardell Carroll, 56 of Johnston City passed away at 6:45 P.M. on Tuesday May 28, 2013 in the Herrin Hospital.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday May 31, 2013 at Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Ted A. Hartley officiating with a eulogy to be given by Dhana Dee Wheeler. Visitation will be held from 11:00A.M. to1:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City.

Robert was born on February 18, 1957 in Herrin the son of James Mervin and Maxine (Jones) Carroll. He married Cindy (Houghlan) Casey on March 24, 2005. She survives.

He was a short shore man who worked on scallop boats.

He is survived by his wife of Johnston City; five children, Robert A. Carroll Jr. and wife Helena of Norfolk, VA, Mike M. Carroll of Norfolk, VA, Maria Carroll of Norfolk, VA, Amy Carroll of Norfolk, VA, and Jamie Carroll of Norfolk VA; a step-son, Johnny Lee Casey of Johnston City; one brother, Roland Kent and wife Ruth of Marion; two sisters, Kathy Silverman of Norfolk, VA, and Laura Ann Brock of South Carolina; and twelve grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Diane Palmer; and a brother, James "Jimmy" Carroll.
