ROBERT W. HOWERTON
Carbondale-Robert W. Howerton, 69, of Carbondale formerly of Johnston City, passed away at 7:25 P.M. Monday September 10, 2012 in Rehab and Care Center of Jackson County, Murphysboro.
Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday September 15, 2012 at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Larry Stevens officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
Robert was born on July 16, 1943 in Whiteash the son of Jesse B. and Frieda L. (Moses) Howerton He married Gloria (Brymer) on November 24, 1967 in Johnston City. She survives.
Robert last worked as a purchasing agent for the Morris Coal Company. He was a veteran proudly serving in the army. He coached little league baseball and football in Johnston City.
He is survived by 3 children, Michele Vargas of Carbondale, Tonia Howerton of Port St. Lucie, FL, and Robert Howerton and wife Colleen of Peoria; 4 grandchildren, Joey Vargas, Rachael Vargas, Abigail Howerton, and Peyton Howerton; 1 sister, Treasure Hermetz and husband Robert of Johnston City; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Joe Vargas; 2 brothers, Darrell Howerton and Daton Howerton; and a sister, Lois Jean Howerton.
