RONALD BRUCE GIBBENS

Johnston City-Ronald Bruce Gibbens 79 passed away at 5:03 P.M. on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at the Heartland Reginal Medical Center in Marion.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Stephen Hudspath officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City with graveside military rites conducted by the Marion V.F.W., American Legion, and the Army National Guard Military Honors Team. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Bruce was born on May 22, 1941 in Johnston City the son of Fred and Helen (Robinson) Gibbens. He married Shirley Ann (Gibbons) on December 23, 1987 in Paducah, KY. She survives.

Bruce was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He was an avid Cardinal baseball fan.

Bruce was a High School Building Trades Instructor at Johnston City High School for over 20 years. Many of his former students went on to be successful in the construction industry. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. His hobbies were fishing, turkey hunting with his son, and scuba diving. He was an animal lover.

He is survived by a son Ronnie Gibbens and wife Sarah of Johnston City; a son, Bruce James Gibbens of Johnston City; a daughter, Tammy Jo Hall of Greensboro, NC; A daughter, Tracy Ann Nicholson and husband Peppy of Crab Orchard; a son, Keith Payne and wife Carrie of Harrisburg; grandchildren, Jessica Kiel and husband Mitch, Jennifer Fallon and husband John, Christopher Hall, Joseph Hall, Katherine Hall, Jamie Zappa, Jessica Zappa, Johnathan Zappa, Tiffany Shirley, Hannah Zappa, McKenzie Payne, Makayla Payne, Kerrigan Payne, Karsyn Payne; great grandchildren, Evelyn Jo, Cameron, Sophie, Isabel, Lilee, Liam, Eli; brothers, Michael Gibbens and wife Carol of Savanah Georgia, Rodney Jo Gibbens and wife Jan of St. Mary's Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
