ROSETTA "SUE" MANDRELL

Pittsburg–Rosetta "Sue" Mandrell, 59, of Pittsburg, passed away at 4:46 A.M. on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at her family home surrounded by her family.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday January 8, 2011, at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Chris Cutsinger officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M to 1:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family or to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Sue was born on June 4, 1951 in Herrin, the daughter of William "Bill" and Velda (Fairbanks) Rogers.

Sue was a 1969 graduate of Johnston City High School. She enjoyed life, watching as Dick worked his flower and vegetable garden, birds, cardinals, hummingbirds and finches were her favorites. She enjoyed girl's soft ball, St. Louis Cardinal Baseball, John Wayne, and was a George Strait fan. She enjoyed watching movies, T.V. and listening to all types of music especially gospel. Most important she enjoyed spending time with her family that she said was "awesome". She was blessed with a second chance in life in 2003. The power of prayer, believing and trusting in the Lord and a medical staff that believed in the Lord gave us a few more precious years.

She is survived by her best friend and spouse of thirty-two years, Dick Mandrell; two daughters, Jennifer Marie Willis and husband Dale of Johnston City, and Christina Grace Schafer and husband Brice of West Frankfort; grandchildren, Dakota Renee Thome (who spent a lot of time taking care of her grandma), Jaeda Marie Willis of Johnston City, Ellie Rose and Bailey Grace Schafer of Freeman-Spur; one great granddaughter, McKenzi Lynn "Mac Lynn" Compton of Pittsburg; Ellie Rose and Jaeda Marie were grandma's special little nurses, Bailey and McKenzi were still in the cuddling stage. She made special memories with all of her grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Billy Rogers and Hal Diebolt of DuQuoin, and Rev. Greg Robards and wife Debbie of Pace, FL; sister-in-laws, Jean Maynard of Bethalto, Jane and Forrest Tolbert of Pittsburg, Sue and Larry Webb of Marion; brother-in-law, Bill Mandrell of Poordo; aunts, Judy Nevitt of Aurora, Joan Fairbanks of Coello; an uncle, Artie Fairbanks of Arizona; and lots of special cousins, nieces, nephews, and special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; mother and father-in-law.
