Sandra Goddard

Benton–Sandra Goddard 75, of Benton, passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 12:11 A.M. at her home in Benton.

Sandra was born on May 18, 1943, in Herrin, the daughter of Dent and Alma (Smith) Grant. She married Maynard Goddard on June 8, 1962 in Marion. They shared 56 years of marriage.

She is survived by her husband, Maynard Goddard of Benton; 2 children John Goddard of Johnston City, Debbie Barnhart and her husband Lewis of Benton; three grandchildren Ryan, Adam, and Trevor; five great grandchildren; and four sisters Nancy Montgomery, Donna Curry, Janice Holloway, and Denise Ryan; and several nieces and nephews.

She owned the Paper Place in West Frankfort for 32 years. After retirement from the Paper Place she worked at Rose's in Benton and Menards where she was the top sales lady in seasonal department until she fell ill.

She was a friend to everyone, decorated and registered many weddings in the area, and was loved by all because of her big hearted personality.

She is preceded in death by her parents Dent and Alma Grant and her in-laws Frank and Gladys Goddard.

Services will be held at 1 P.M. Saturday July 21, 2018, at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Minister William Kinley officiating. Burial will be in Lake Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
