SANDRA LEE WALDROP
Johnston City-Sandra Lee (Littlepage) Waldrop, 54, of Johnston City, passed away at 1:35 A.M. on Tuesday March 4, 2014 in the Herrin Hospital.
Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday March 8, 2014, at the First Christian Church in Johnston City with Pastor Lee Petty officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery of Johnston City. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City.
Sandra was born on August 28, 1959 in Hopkinsville, KY to Phyllis Sandra Hurd and Charles B. Littlepage. Sandra graduated Johnston City High School in 1977. Following high school, she attended SIU, and later graduated in 1985 with a Bachelor's in Paralegal Studies. She served in the Army National Guard of Illinois, in the 1244 Transportation Co, LMT out of Carbondale. She was Honorably Discharged in March of 1983.
She married Richard Waldrop, of Carbondale on May 10, 1982, in the First Christian Church of Johnston City, Illinois. She was employed at Morris Library at SIU, and then later worked at Shawnee Library System for over 20 years. She was very active in her church, being a regular attendee, helping with music, producing the church bulletin, teaching Sunday School for young adults, as well as being highly involved with youth activities in First Christian Church of Johnston City.
She was preceded in death by her father Charles Littlepage. She is survived by her husband, Richard Waldrop, mother, Phyllis Littlepage, her son, Aron Waldrop and his wife, Stephanie Baker Waldrop, and her daughter, Chellie Waldrop, all of Johnston City, IL. Two Brothers, Larry Littlepage and fiancée Betty J. Kiebler of Johnston City, IL. and Paul Littlepage and Jim Salyards of Woodside, CA.
The family has suggested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the following organizations: No Woman Left Behind, 13483 Olive Blvd., Chesterfield, MO 63017, to help others in their fight with breast cancer, or to the Johnston City Public Library; to help others with their bibliophilia. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
