SHAWN JOSEPH RAY
Shawn Joseph Ray, 45, born on January 30, 1980, in Chicago, IL was sent to his eternal resting place on June 9, 2025, in Sullivan, MO, due to circumstances beyond his control and before his time. He was the son of Paul Bennett and Lily Louise (Clark) Ray. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 sister, Annie Klein; and 1 brother, Kyle Williamson.
He was the beloved father of a son, SJ and he was the affectionate, rebellious, and cantankerous little brother to 4 sisters, Rose Owens, Geneva Muse, Betty Knight, and Tammy Jarrett; and 3 brothers, Scott Williamson, Richard Knight, and Pete Williamson. He was also the outrageous uncle to several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Shawn, or Junior, as he was affectionately known, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this Earth was one marked, by love, devotion, and compassion. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. His son, SJ, asks that you remember him not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Those who knew Shawn will remember him for his infectious smile and overwhelming laughter, his unwavering commitment to his family and friends, and his ability to spread joy and kindness to everyone he encountered. He had a rare gift for making others smile and laugh, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed his path.
Although Shawn's physical presence may no longer grace our lives, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. May his memory be a blessing, and may we carry forth his legacy of unbridled loyalty, love and compassion in all that we do.
As you begin your peaceful journey in blissful relaxation, dear Shawn, rest easy and know that your light will forever shine brightly in our hearts.
