SHERRY JEAN (RAINS) SIZEMORE

Herrin–Sherry Jean (Rains) Sizemore 49, of Herrin passed away on Wednesday February 3, 2010 at 12:45 A.M. at the Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.

Sherry was born on February 13, 1960, in Marion, the daughter of Jack Dee and Patricia (Mearna) Rains. She first married Kevin M. Sides of Chicago and later she married Michael Sizemore of Herrin on December 7, 2001 in Paducah Kentucky. He survives.

Sherry was of the Catholic Faith and a graduate of St. Augustine High School in Chicago. Sherry was an avid Gardener and liked to go bass fishing and camping. She enjoyed making floral arrangements.

She is survived by her mother of Herrin, four children, Melissa A. Sides of California, Mary C. Sides-Aderholt and husband Eric of Marion, Kevin M. Sides Jr. of Chicago, and Robin M. Sides of Herrin; one grandson, James Jack Rodden of Chicago; one sister, Mary Jo Calvert of Herrin; a brother-in-law, Roger Hoppenrath of Chicago; five uncles and their wives, Audie "Doggy" Rains and wife Linda of Johnston City, Patrick Mearna and wife Joanne of Indiana, William Mearna and wife Sandy of Indiana, Robert Mearna and wife Darlene of Wilmington, and Michael Mearna and wife Mary of Michigan; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father; two brothers, Jack Dee Rains Jr., and Larry Dean Rains; and one sister, Candace Hoppenrath.

Services will be held at Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City on Saturday February 6, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. with Msgr. Ken Schaefer officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Barnes Jewish Hospital Transplant Unit of St. Louis. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
