SHIRLEY JEAN SMITH

Johnston City–Shirley Jean Smith 80, of Johnston City passed away on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 4:45 P.M. in the Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday January 23, 2018, in the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Don Colson officiating. Burial will be in Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children or Marion Regional Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Shirley was born on September 22, 1937, in Marion, the daughter of Earl and Venita (Hudgens) McPheron. She married Donny Smith on August 5, 1956 in Johnston City. He survives.

Shirley was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved to take care of animals.

She is survived by one son, Rickey Smith and wife Rebecca of Marion; one daughter, Vickey Anderson and husband David of Marion; three grandchildren, Matt Smith and wife Maddie, Chase Anderson and fiancée Andrea Knight, and Scott Anderson; four great grandchildren, Avah Anderson, Kinley Anderson, Brentlee Anderson, and Maelyn Smith; one brother, Larry McPheron and wife Kathy of Johnston City; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Bonnie Salo and husband Wayne.
