SIDNEY COULSON
Johnston City–Sidney Coulson 89, of Johnston City passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at 4:48 A.M. at the Herrin Hospital.
Services will be held at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City on Saturday October 9, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Marion V.F.W., American Legion and Illinois Army National Guard. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
Sidney was born on May 26, 1921 in Haversham On The Tyne, England, the son of George and Alice (Gray) Coulson. He married Esther (Planinc) on February 3, 1951. She preceded him in death on October 27, 2007.
He was a retired coal miner of 36 years. He was a member of the U.M.W.A.. He served in the Civil Conservation Corps. He was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War. He was a life member of the V.F.W. of Marion.
He is survived by two daughters, Janet Pasquino of Johnston City and Nancy Martin and husband Tim of Johnston City; three grandchildren, Miranda Gass, Alex Martin, and Mikala Martin; three great grandchildren, Hailee Gass, McKenna Gass, and Brayden Gass; a sister, Margaret West and husband Harry of Johnston City; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Doris Sanders and Edna Williams.
