Obituary

STANLEY R. SOUTH

Carbondale-Stanley R. South, 81, formerly of Johnston City passed at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Herrin Hospital.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday April 24, 2016 starting at 1:00 P.M. at the Honker Hill Winery on the Spillway Road in Carbondale. Murman & Wilson Funeral home in Johnston City is in charge of arrangements.

Stanley was born on March 11, 1935 in Enfield, the son of Curtis Ray and Laura (Jordan) South. He married Carolyn Sue (Joyner) on July 28, 2010 in Piggott, Arkansas. She survives.

Stanley was the manager at Honker Hill Winery in Carbondale for 6 years. He had owned South Heating and Air Conditioning in Johnston City for 30 years. He worked at Olin's for 23 years. He was a Commodore of Crab Orchard Boat & Yacht club for 8 years. He was the President of the Johnston City Lion's Club for 9 years. He was a member of the Lake Creek Masonic Lodge #729 in Johnston City.

He is survived by 3 sons Terry South of Marion, Randy South and wife Sheila of Johnston City and Tracy South and wife Cheryll of Johnston City; 2 daughters, Becky South of Herrin and Debbie South of Johnston City; step-children, Lex Bradley Turner and wife Cathy of Carbondale and Kim Reynolds and husband Bill of Marion; 15 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Bill South and wife Lois of Enfield and Jack South and wife Liz of Enfield; and a sister, Frances York of Ft. Meyers, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
