STEVEN JOHN HENDERSON
Steven John Henderson , 52, of Zeigler , passed away unexpectedly from complications of diabetes at 12:13 a.m. Sunday, May 10, 2020 at Herrin Hospital with his daugh ter, Alyssa, by his side. Steve was born March 24, 1968 at St. Alexis Hospital in Elk Grove Village, IL to Bonnie (White) Henderson and John Henderson formally of Zeigler. Steve graduated from Zeigler-Royalton High School in 1986, where he went on to Rend Lake College and Southern Illinois University Carbondale to receive his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education in 1992 . He began teaching math at Z RHS where he had a fulfilling teaching career and was looking forward to retiring in the coming years and traveling with his daughter . Steve loved being a teacher , blasting his music, attending concerts, cooking , and making people laugh. He was a lover of the Chicago Cubs and lived to see them win the World Series in 2016, which was one of his favorite moments during his life. He was a member of the Italian C lub in C oello wher e he made countless memories with friends. Steve was also head of the scholarship committee , as helping others get an education meant the world to him. He was a joy to know and will be forever loved and missed.
He is survived by his daughter, Alyssa Henderson of Zeigler ; his mother, Bonnie Henderson of Creal Springs ; 2 brothers , Rick Henderson of Marcellus, M I and Bob Henderson of Creal Springs ; his sister, Susan Trout of W est Frankfort ; sister-in-law Steveny Henderson of Galatia, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins , and friends .
He i s preceded in death by maternal and paternal grandparents, wife Patti Henderson, brother Jim Henderson, and father John Henderson.
There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City is in charge of arrangements.
