TED MARLYN RIDDLE

Herrin–Ted Marlyn Riddle 88 passed away at 11:58 A.M. on Saturday December 11, 2021 at the V.A. Medical Center in Marion.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday December 14, 2021 at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Michael Neubert officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City with graveside military rites conducted by the Herrin V.F.W. American Legion and the U.S. Air Force Military Burial Rites Team.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Ted was born on December 23, 1932 in Marion the son of Harley Calvin and Norma Mary (Purdue) Riddle.  He married Peggy Reed on November 5, 1969 in Goreville. She preceded him in death on April 5, 2013.

Ted proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was of the Presbyterian Church of Herrin. He retired from Maytag in Herrin in 1994. Ted had many roles during his lifetime. He found joy in collecting classic cars. His children remember him as "GQ guy of the 60s as they shared about his appreciation for fashion and bling evidenced in his collection of clothes, shoes, and watches.

Owning to his fame as a jazz trumpeter, he was recognized throughout the community as though he were a rock star.

He is survived by 3 daughters, Robin Moore and husband Scott of Johnston City, Lela Mocaby and husband Paul Walnut Hill, and Kim Newsome of Makanda; grandchildren, Scott Jr, Shana Bebout and husband Nick, Jennifer Amaro and husband Brett, Jason Newsom, Ryan Newsome, Amy Palmer and husband Randy, and Adam Macoby; great grandchildren, Kalya Bebout, Laynee Bebout, Edelia, Felicia, and Willow Amaro Scott Moore III, Payton and Dakota Palmer and one great-great grandchild, Bennett Young.

He is preceded in death by his parents.
