TROY CRABTREE
Corinth-Troy Crabtree 78, of Corinth passed away at 2:17 P.M. on Monday, July 21, 2014 in his family home.
Services will be private. Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials can be made to Corinth Cemetery and can be mailed to the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home, 211 West Broadway Blvd, Johnston City, IL 62951.
Troy was born on January 12, 1936 in Johnston City the son of Dewey and Betty (Raines) Crabtree. He married his high school sweet heart, Carol (Cardwell) on June 11, 1955 in Corinth and they were married for 59 years. She survives.
He proudly served in the marines and fought in the Korean War. He was a member of the Marion American Legion and V.F.W. Troy was a Master Mason and was a member of the Lake Creek Masonic Lodge #721 of Johnston City. He worked for GTE and owned and operated Crabtree Enterprises. He graduated from Johnston City High School in 1953. He was a member of the Washington Avenue Baptist Church of Johnston City. He was a life time member of the Buccaneer's Club of Johnston City.
He is survived by two daughters, Melody Dawes and husband Randy of West Frankfort, and Cathy Fox and husband Doug of Pittsburg; grandchildren, Michelle Smith and husband Mike of Johnston City, Ben Dawes of Johnston City, Dustun Malone of Johnston City, Michael Dawes and wife Tabby of Thompsonville, Rachel Boehler of West Frankfort, Emily Duncan and husband Ryan of Herrin, Jake Boehler of Johnston City, Gayla Fox of Pittsburg, Sidney Fox of Pittsburg; two step-granddaughters, Tiffanie Hanson and husband Dave of Springfield, and Tara Stratton and husband Tyler of Waynesville, Missouri; seventeen great grandchildren; a sister, Betty June Imhoff of Johnston City; a brother, Dewey Crabtree Jr. and wife Gloria of Johnston City; a brother, Larry "PI" Crabtree and wife Judy of Johnston City; a sister Pat McLaughlin and husband Steve of Herrin; and several nieces and nephews .
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Mikel Crabtree; a brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Gayla Crabtree; a sister, Sue Claunch; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Yolanda and Bill Kee; and a mother-in-law and father-in-law; Milo and Mildred (Roberts) Cardwell.
