TROY STALLINGS JR.
Johnston City–Troy Stallings Jr. 83, of Johnston City passed away on Monday, November 8, 2010 at 10:45 A.M. at the Herrin Hospital.
Services will be held at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City on Thursday November 11, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Lee Petty officiating and Masonic Rites Conducted by the Lake Creek Masonic Lodge #729. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City with military rites conducted by the Marion V.F.W., American Legion and Illinois Army National Guard. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Williamson County Program on Aging. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Troy was born on July 11, 1927 in Stiritz the son of Troy Sr. and Julia (Pluta) Stallings. He married Janet Rae (Cagle). She survives.
He was a retired coal miner of 45 years last working at Brushy Creek. He was a member of the U.M.W.A. and of the Lake Creek Masonic Lodge #729 of Johnston City. He was a veteran of WWII proudly serving in the Navy. He helped his wife operate Andresen's Café in Johnston City. He maintained the daily WCPA congregate meals at Andresen's and he delivered senior meals to the homebound for the past 20 years.
He is survived by children, Gary Stallings and wife Cynthia of Johnston City, Donnie Beers and wife Lorraine of Hillsboro, Danny Beers and wife Lori of Johnston City, Tina Lindsey and husband Brian of Johnston City; grandchildren, Seth Stallings and wife Erica, Ethan Stallings, Ashley, Andrew, Hannah, and Lindsay Beers, Megan Dawes, Anthony, Nathan, and Tyler Spiller, Briant, Lana, and Kendrick Lindsey; brothers and sisters, Jeanette Elliott of Johnston City, Raymond Stallings and wife Marieta of Fairfield, Charles "Bob" Stallings and wife Jo of Salem, Homer Stallings and wife Rose of Johnston City, Joy Helfrich and husband Jack of Johnston City; numerous nieces and nephews; and his special dog Princess.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant grandson Eric Leland Stallings; and an infant brother, Kenneth Dean Stallings.
The family would like to thank Dr. Parks and staff, Dr. Chen and staff, and Herrin Hospital ICU.
