VERA KRANTZ

Johnston City-Vera Krantz passed away at 5:30 A.M. on Thursday, April 18, 2019 in her family home.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, April 20, 2019, at Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Vera was born on February 22, 1935 in Whiteash the daughter of Alfred Slaughter and Laccie (Bartley) Newton. She married Floyd Krantz on October 7, 1950. He preceded her in death on September 14, 1986.

Vera was a homemaker and she was a member of the Pittsburg Rebekah Lodge.

She is survived by a son, John Krantz and wife Pam of Johnston City; three daughters, Sue Stearns and husband Jerry of Marion, Mary (Krantz) Powers and husband Denver of Colp, and Brenda Aldridge and husband Bennie of West Frankfort; five grandchildren, Danny York Jr., Kenya Morse, Heather Krantz, Thomas Fann, and Joshua Criner; ten great grandchildren, Nolan Fann, Dakota York, Garrott York, Kesler Weeks, Alley Weeks, Devin Weeks, Kirsten Weeks, Lucian Criner, Maddyson Fann, and Hudsen Fann; one great-great grandchild, Jada York; three sisters, Thelma Veil of West Frankfort, Janice Zeigler of Marion, and Fay Jeadoin of Washington State; eleven nieces and nephews, Melissa Roberts, Mike Abney, Mary Costello, Marty Stacey, Billy Stacy, Brian Stacey, Jayjay Stacey, Richard Shively, Berigetta Greer, Angela Carten, and Kenneth Veil.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ira Newton and Frank Slaughter; two sisters, Iris Abney and Shirley Stacey.
