VIDALENE CHAPMAN

Johnston City-Vidalene Chapman 97 of Johnston City passed away Tuesday July 12, 2016 at 2:35 A.M. at the Frankfort Care Center in West Frankfort.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday July 16, 2016 at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Cody Gardner officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City.

Vidalene was born on November 13, 1918 in Franklin County the daughter of Douglas and Bertha (Galbraith) Hobbs. She married Ed Chapman on September 5, 1936. He preceded her in death on May 5, 1973.

Vidalene was a homemaker and a long time member of the First United Methodist Church of Johnston City. She was awarded the life membership in Illinois PTA. She was a member of Daughters of American Revolution and a member of the Royal Neighbors.

Vidalene is survived by three sons, Doug Chapman and wife Janet of Belvidere, Keith Chapman and wife Marilyn of Paducah, KY, and Daniel Chapman and wife Debbie of Johnston City; seven grandchildren, Meagan Heilman and husband Brent, Todd Chapman and wife Mardi Jo, Jill Bimmerle and husband Steve, Amy Miller and husband Rick, Melinda Dew and husband Duane, Bethany Chapman, Ashley Gardner and husband Cody; thirteen great grandchildren, Gwen Heilman, Drew Heilman, Tralee Chapman, Mason Chapman, Tyson Chapman, Hannah Bimmerle, Sarah Bimmerle, Carson Miller, Cailyn Miller, Caroline Dew, Emily Dew, Tyler Dew, and Grayson Gardner .

Vidalene was preceded in death by her parents; two aunts, Fleta Martin and Ruth Seitz; and cousin, Maxine Muntz; and two uncles, Lawton Galbraith and Barney Galbraith.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Scholarship fund at First United Methodist Church Johnston City. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
