VINIDA FAYE RAMSEY
Johnston City-Vinida Faye (Holloman) Ramsey, 82, of Johnston City passed away on Thursday May 26, 2016, at 1:08 P.M. at the Frankfort Healthcare and Rehab Center in West Frankfort.
Vinida was born on April 25, 1934 in Johnston City the daughter of Oscar and Opal McClellan.
She grew up in Johnston City. She spent her teenage years attending JCHS and was involved in various clubs. She was a member of mixed choir, a twirler, and a 1952 JCHS graduate.
Soon after, she married Carl E. Holloman Sr. of West Frankfort on Jul 2, 1955. They had 4 children, Carl Jr., Dallas, Terri, and Pamela. They enjoyed playing guitar and golfing together until his passing in February of 1981.
She married Charles E. Ramsey on November 2, 1996. They enjoyed traveling to Tennessee and Florida. They spent time attending many ball games and birthday parties for their grandchildren.
Vinida was a member of the Lake Creek Baptist Church. She spent many days playing the piano, painting, and making porcelain dolls which are displayed in their home. Charles and Vinida shared 19 years before her passing.
She is survived by her husband, Charles E. Ramsey; sons, Carl E. Holloman Jr. and wife Syndi and Dallas Holloman and wife Pam; daughters, Terri (Holloman) Banks and husband Tim and Pamela (Holloman) Yaeger and husband Cory; step-son, Chuck Ramsey and wife Chris; a step-daughter, Janet Ramsey; grandchildren, Carl E. Holloman III, Ashley Kiefer, Ted Holloman and wife Savannah, Julie Dane and husband Eric; Curtis Partusch, Lauren Steele, Brittany Roberts and husband Dakota, Brandon Banks, Samantha Finn, Caleb Yaeger, Starletta Cabral; step grandchildren, Ryan Ramsey and Abby Ramsey; great grandchildren, Kyle, Wyatt, Leo, Madilyn, Calista, Morgan, Elijah, Carson, Bryson, Ryder, Kara, and baby Brantley on the way.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl E. Holloman Sr.; her father, Oscar McClellan; her mother, Opal Godbert; step-father, Theodore Godbert; and siblings, Oscar McClellan, Marion Kramer, Donald "Red" McClellan, and Irene Dodig.
Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday May 28, 2016 at Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Rev. Paul Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
