VIRGINIA MAY PLANINC
Carterville-Virginia May (Cooksey) Planinc, 96, passed away peacefully at 12:10 P.M. on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Century Assisted Living in Carbondale with her grandson by her side.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, August 6, 2017, at Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Larry Stevens officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Virginia was born on July 13, 1921 in Johnston City the daughter of Ralph Hamilton and Eva Audrey (McNeill) Cooksey.

She is survived by a sister, Helen Marie Farris of Ocala, FL; grandson, William Peyton Blewett and wife Kelly Anne of Carbondale; great grandson, Brandon Peyton Blewett of Carbondale; and many close nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Carl Martin Planinc; a daughter, Carolyn Sue Blewett; both parents; and four sisters, Ethel Bernice Swaim, Mildred Louise Myers, Nora Maud Fell, and Sally Lou Burks.

Virginia was a beautician and a homemaker. Her interests included Antique Club, church, travel, and spending time with family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be missed by many who knew her as "Granny" or Aunt Ginny".
